Registration

Register for the Iowa Public Health Leadership Academy here.

There is no cost to register or participate in the Academy.

Registration for the 2019-2020 Public Health Leadership Academy has been extended until February 17, 2020.

Dates

Sessions will be held using Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent to participants prior to the session. Sessions are scheduled from 6:00-7:30pm and scheduled for the following dates:

November 18, 2019 – Session 1: Overview of the Iowa Governmental Public Health System

January 6th, 2020 – Session 2: Putting the Local in Local Public Health: Local Roles and Responsibilities

February 24, 2020 – Public Health Law in Iowa

April 13, 2020 – Health Equity: Why it Matters and How to Achieve It

June 1, 2020 – Ethics and Decision Making in Public Health

July 20, 2020 – Advancing Policy in Public Health


Participant Information

Expectations

In order to take part in the Academy, participants will be asked to commit to the following:

  • Attend all six online sessions. If unavailable for a specific session, the participant will view the recorded version of the missed session in advance of the next session;
  • Be engaged and actively participate in sessions; and
  • Share the information they find beneficial with colleagues in their respective counties.

Representation

Currently, there are over 80 participants enrolled in the 2019-2020 Public Health Leadership Academy. Participants represent Boards of Health and Boards of Supervisors from 43 counties across Iowa.
